Overview

Trekking to Nar Phu Valley is a journey to one of the Shangri-las in the Himalayan hidden lands. In this trek, it is still possible to explore unspoiled valleys and villages of Tibetan origin Neshyang and Buddhist people who have successfully kept their unique culture and way of life still untouched by modernization. The trek starts after a long day’s drive by jeep from Kathmandu to starting point. Then the trek immediately heads to the hidden land of Nar Phu region. At the western end of the Nar Phu valley the Kangla Pass 5306 meters stands as the border to well known Annapurna circuit trail. After Kangla Pass, the trek explores Manang valley and to Tilicho Lake area. Tilicho lake is at 4919 meteres. So it is considered as a lake situated on a highest elevation in the whole world. After exploring the beautiful lake, trek returns to main Annapurna circuit and crosses another amazing high altitude pass Throrong La at 5416 meters. From Thorongla trek drops down to Muktinath and to Jomsom finally before returning to the civilization of Pokhara town. Nar Phu, Kangla, Tilicho and Annapurna circuit truly is a package of natural, cultural beuities filled with true Himalayan Adventure.

Day 1 :

Day 01: Kathmandu Arrival !

Arrival, meet your guide at the airport and a short drive to hotel for rest in Kathmandu. Sleep at 1350 meters.

Day 2 :

Day 02: Kathmandu, Introductory sightseeing, last minute updates

While our staff prepare restricted area permit, you are recommended to take part on an introductory sightseeing tour of Kathamndu city. It's also a good time to get together with guide and reconfirm packing list and preparation for the trek.

Day 3 :

Day 03: Kathmandu - Besishahar - Koto by Jeep 9-10 hours and sleep at 2100 meters.

Many places in the Annapurna region are now connected by road. On the first day, we travel by jeep from Kathmandu to Koto. Along the way, we see hill villages and landscapes of Nepal. Altitude gain 750 meters.

Day 4 :

Day 04: Koto to Meta, trekking time 6 hours, sleep at 3500 meters

This is the first trekking day. After permit checking at the checkpoint, we enter the Nar Phu area. We walk along the river and through forests to reach Meta. Elevation gain 1400 meters.

Day 5 :

Day 05: Meta to Phu Village, trekking time 7 hours, sleep at 4080 meters

We walk through old grazing lands used by Manangi people and animals. We reach Phu Village, the last village before the Tibet border. This small village has a Buddhist monastery, prayer walls, and beautiful mountain views. 580 meters.

Day 6 :

Day 06: Rest Day at Phu Village, optional day hikes

This is a rest day to help prevent altitude sickness. You can enjoy the village life, visit the monastery, and enjoy the scenery.

Day 7 :

Day 07: Phu Village to Nar Phedi, trekking time 6 hours, sleep at 3490 meters.

We walk back on the same trail for some time. Then we turn right and walk to Nar Phedi. We stay at a guesthouse run by a Buddhist monastery. It is a good chance to learn about local religion and culture. Altitude drop 500 meters.

Day 8 :

Day 08: Nar Phedi to Nar Village, trekking time 3 hours, sleep at 4110 meters.

Today is a short walk. We go uphill and cross a small landslide area. We reach Nar Village by lunchtime. Nar is the biggest village in this area. You can see village life, monasteries, and mountains all around. Altitude gain 600 meters.

Day 9 :

Day 09: Nar Village to Kang La Pass and Ngawal, trekking time 9 hours and sleep at 3660 meters.

This is the longest and hardest day of the trek. We start early in the morning. First, the trail is easy, then it goes uphill to Kang La Pass. After reaching the pass, we walk downhill to Ngawal Village. Altitude drop 490 meters.

Day 10 :

Day 10: Ngawal to Khangsar, trekking time 6 hours, sleep at 3734 meters.

We walk through Manang on an easy trail with little up and down. Manang is the biggest village in this area. We stop here for lunch. Altitude gain 100 meters.

Day 11 :

Day 11: Khangsar to Tilicho Base Camp, trekking time 4 hours, sleep at 4150 meters

From Khangsar, we walk west to Tilicho Base Camp. We reach there by lunchtime. Altitude gain 440 meters.

Day 12 :

Day 12: Morning excursion to Tilicholake 4919 meters and Siri Kharka, trekking time 5 hours and rest at 4060 meters.

Early in the morning, we go to Tilicho Lake, one of the highest lakes in the world. After enjoying the view, we return to the base camp, eat, and then walk to Siri Kharka. Altitude drop 100 meters.

Day 13 :

Day 13: Siri Kharka to Thorong Phedi, trekking time 5-6 hours, sleep at 4540 meters

We rejoin the main Annapurna trail and walk to Thorong Phedi, the base of Thorong La Pass. Altitude gain 490 meters.

Day 14 :

Day 14: Thorong La Pass to Muktinath, trekking time 9 hours and sleep at 3800 meters.

We start very early to avoid strong winds at high altitude. We walk uphill to Thorong La Pass, then walk downhill to reach Muktinath. Altitude drop 740 meters.

Day 15 :

Day 15: Muktinath to Jomsom, trekking time 6 hours, sleep at 2700 meters.

This is the final day of the trek. From Muktinath, we walk down to the ancient Bon village of Lupra, then continue to Jomsom, where the trek ends. Altitude drop 1100 meters.

Day 16 :

Day 16: Fly out from Jomsom to Pokhara and rest in the lake city, Pokhara sleep at 822 mteres altitude drop 1878m

Arrive in Pokhara before 10Am and rest and recovery at the lake city with all kinds of facilities of great restaurants, hotels, shops and bars.

Day 17 :

Day 17: Return to Kathamndu by flight. Or bus can be arranged.

There is all day flights between the two cities. Our trek cost includes flight back but you can switch it to ground transport like, tourist bus or private vehicle.

Day 18 :

Day 18: Return home !
