Trekking to Lawudo Gonpa

Lawudo Gompa is situation in one day’s walk from Namchebazaar of Everest region, Khumbu. The place is the meditation site of Lama Zopa Rinpoche head of Kopan Monastery, Kathmandu. The retreat center has been made popular for spiritual seekers by his followers. However, anyone interested in experiencing the Tibetan Buddhist culture that is followed by Sherpa and the other Indigenous people of the Nepal Himalaya, can join this trip. Lawudo was a cave used by a learned Lama (Monk) from the nearby village of Thame. Following his death, it is believed that he was reincarnated as Lama Zopa Rinpoche. Lama Zopa Rinpoche lived and meditated in this cave for many years and is one of the high level spiritual teachers of our times. From a Buddhist perspective, his teachings relate to the ways in which we might deal with the problems and challenges of our time. There are centers all over the world that are associated with his monastery, Kopan Mahayana Gonpa in Kathmandu and the Foundation for the Preservation of the Mahayana Tradition (FPMT). The Three Jewels Adventures’ Manager, Amber Tamang, has worked with some of the teachers of FPMT, coordinating large groups on pilgrimage trips in Kathmandu, Lumbini and India.
