Tillman’s Pass (5320m) was named after a pioneer British Adventurer and Explorer, H. W. Tillman (1898 – 1977), who explored the Himalaya in the mid-20th Century. It is a challenging trek as it involves some snow climbing and traversing glaciated areas in one of the highest Himalayan passes. We cover the same ground as the popular Langtang Valley trek part of the section, however, we then move through an extremely remote area (there is no human habitation for several days) on our way to the glaciated area behind the peaks of Urkinmang (6100m) and Dorje Lakpa (6700m) of the Jugal Himal Range. After the pass, the trail drops down to the Eastern side of the Jugal Range, home to five lakes (Panch Pokhari) and a popular pilgrimage site for local people from the green valleys of Sindhupalchok area in central Nepal where the trip concludes. This trek blends the experience of an adventurous trip over the high pass with meeting the ethnic Tamang people and exploring some rarely visited areas by commom tourists.

We loved seeing the real Kathmandu. We saw areas that we never would have known existed and learnt a lot about the history and people. Would definately recommend this tour.
