Tiji Festival in Upper Mustang Dates for the year April 27 – May 11, 2024 have been already confirmed! Join us as we explore this rare and ancient Local Tibetan Buddhist Ritual at Lo Manthang, the capital town of once independent Mustang Kingdom in the Himalaya. The Tiji Festival brings together locals and tourists alike in a celebration by prayers, poojas and traditional Tibetan Monks’ dance. The three days’ Tiji ceremony begins with a procession of Lamas carrying colorful Buddhist flags throughout the town on their way to a temple where they perform puja (rituals) and chant mantras to ward off evil spirits and restore balance within society. Additionally, there are dramas performed by monks depicting stories related to Dorje Suno which symbolizes victory over adversity while also highlighting moral values found in many Tibetan tales.
