Lobuche Peak, stands alongside the Lobuche village where trekkers usually make overnight stays on their way to Everest Base Camp trekking. Lobuche Peak is one of the most popular climbing peaks in the 6000m category. Lobuche has two summits namely Lobuche East (6119 meters) and Lobuche West (6145 meters) respectively. For the Lobuche East Peak, climbers use South-East face climbing route. Whereas, for the Lobuche West Peak it is common to climb via the South-West face.
The advance base camp for the two peaks are also located in two separate locations. The first ascent of Lobuche East was in 1984. Likewise, Lobuche West was first climbed much earlier in 1955. Climbers conglomerate at advanced base camp 5400 meters after doing the standard Everest base camp trek or, Gokyo Valley Chola Pass Trek. Lobuche East Peak is one of the peaks that is managed by the Nepal Mountaineering Association. The necessary documents for climbing here include a climbing permit issued by the Nepal Mountaineering Association and an Everest National Park entry permit. Everest Base Camp Trekking requires about two weeks, adding two days to that itinerary for climbing Lobuche East Peak is sufficient. Similarly, if you want to trek Gokyo Valley to Lobuche East, you need to add another three days. Furthermore, if you add this climbing program to the Everest Three Pass Trekking, 20 days in total is enough.
